Dual Diagnosis, Detox and Substance Abuse
Highlands Behavioral Health System now offers Dual Diagnosis, Substance Abuse, and Medically Monitored Detoxification services for adults through our new – Expedition Program!
We take a holistic approach, focusing not only on the addiction itself but also the behavioral and mental health components that are part of the broader picture, while providing a full continuum of care.
The program is evidence based and outcomes focused, offering an inpatient level of care that is designed to give patients the guidance and programming necessary to begin the journey to wellness.
Highlands’ standard of care for substance use treatment was derived from the ASAM Criteria which are based on applying the most appropriate intensity of treatment based on an individual’s support needs. Additionally utilizing the Treatment Improvement Protocol (TIP) 45, developed by the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), part of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
We use motivational interviewing along with cognitive behavioral therapy to identify and correct thinking errors, integrate positive values and develop a concrete plan for success. We combine these elements with experiential therapy for a trauma informed, mind-body based (therapy, therapeutic, clinical, healing) experience. We even help patients identify outside resources such as NA/AA/ MARA in order to ensure that they are supported after they leave our care.
